BreakThru Radio Introduces the Fall Season of Dubway Days With Special Guest Star Jonathan Spottiswoode

Dubway Days

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 03, 2011

BreakThru Radio Introduces the Fall Season of Dubway Days with Special Guest Star Jonathan Spottiswoode

Watch the episode premiere right here: BTR/Dubway Days

BreakThru Radio is pleased to announce the Fall Season of its new web-TV show, Dubway Days episode that documents the creative process of the best musicians and songwriters working today. The show is about the magic that happens when two artists are thrown together in a recording studio to write and record a song in a single day.

Producer Mike Crehore is hunched over his vintage mixing board in the control room of Dubway Studios. His eyes still on the video monitors, Mike says, “The question is not just whether can we write and record a great song…”

Singer-songwriter Ben Arthur, who is working nearby on a laptop, finishes his thought, “But can we do it in one day?”

That question will be put to the dramatic test as Dubway Days launches its fourth episode on Monday, October 3rd, 2011, featuring celebrated musician Jonathan Spottiswoode on BTR

The tagline for Dubway Days, “Two Artists…One Day…One Song,” sums up the mechanics of the show, but its drama hinges on the immensity of that task. Ben Arthur and a guest begin a day of taping in the morning with absolutely no preconceived ideas for a song. Viewers get a front row seat to witness the false starts and eventual magic that evolves from the creative. Once the song is written, producers Mike Crehore and Al Houghton take the lead to engineer and orchestrate a polished recording of the song using the amazing tools of Dubway Studios.

“The whole process is wild and scary, with the potential for huge payoffs or embarrassing letdowns,” says Arthur. “Just the opportunity to work with Spottiswoode was a kick. Simply put, he’s one of the most fascinating and inventive musicians out there.”

Usually performing with his band under the moniker Spottiswoode and His Enemies, he has toured all over North America, performing residencies at New York’s best clubs and even playing Lincoln Center. A favorite of critics and fans alike, Spottiswoode has been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition and his albums often make year’s end top ten lists, including CMJ’s and Performing Songwriter. Three of Spottiswoode’s songs were included in Matthew Chapman’s THE LEDGE, starring Liv Tyler and Terrence Howard, and Spottiswoode himself wrote and directed the short film THE GENTLEMAN, which played frequently on the Independent Film Channel.

“We jumped at the chance to have Spottiswoode into Dubway,” says producer Al Houghton, who co-owns the studio with Mike Crehore. Dubway Studios is often described as one of the few remaining great studios of New York City. Tucked away on the 22nd floor of an office building on Wall Street, Dubway possesses an all-inclusive wish list of legendary musical instruments and recording equipment, both vintage and new.

“We provide a great sounding room and the best recording equipment money can buy,” says producer Al Houghton, “but what the musicians do with those tools…well, that’s always the thrill!”

Check out the premiere of episode 4 with Spottiswoode or the BreakThru Radio site!

Also, don’t miss the first three episodes of Dubway Days featuring John Wesley Harding, Vienna Teng, and Americana darlings Ollabelle.

Alzheimer’s Disease: A 21st Century Epidemic Alliance for Aging Research Releases New Pocket Films to Raise Awareness

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 29, 2011

Experts warn that Alzheimer’s disease will reach epidemic proportions by mid-century. Already, more than five million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s. If a cure is not found, this number is expected to double in the next 20 years. In addition to the devastating effect on individuals and their families, Alzheimer’s disease will create a massive and unsustainable burden on the U.S. economy. A new series of five short animated “pocket” films, A Quick Look at Alzheimer’s, aims to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, a critical step towards finding a cure.

The films, developed by the Alliance for Aging Research through a grant from the MetLife Foundation, were written and directed by David Shenk, author of the acclaimed book, The Forgetting, and are narrated by Emmy- and Tony-award winning actor David Hyde Pierce. Originally developed in English, the films are now also available in multiple languages including: Arabic, Farsi, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Available in multiple languages and playable in a variety of formats, including iPods, cell phones, PDAs, laptops and DVD players, these pocket films are universally accessible. Now, your questions about Alzheimer’s disease can be answered virtually anywhere–at home, at the office or even in the waiting room at your doctor’s office. Log onto http://www.aboutalz.org to watch or download the films.

“The looming threat of Alzheimer’s disease consuming the Baby Boomer generation urgently demands a national plan of action,” said Daniel Perry, executive director of the Alliance for Aging Research. “We encourage everyone to view and share these films so that there is broad understanding of what is at stake.”

MovieInsure.com, Provider of Short Term Production Insurance, Now Expands into Utah

You dream it, we’ll cover it

Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 16, 2011

“..the calls kept coming in, so I decided to just go for it..” says David Karubian, CEO of Brilliant Insurance Services. For the past 9 years, Brilliant Insurance Services has provided short term production insurance for indie film makers as well as regular producers of film, TV, documentaries, music videos and commercials. Currently they are licensed in 11 states, including CA which is where they are based, OR, NV, AZ, TX, HI, NC, NY, NJ, FL and now UT.

Most of the time, an “indie” film maker that needs film insurance, he or she typically will ask a colleague where the good deals are or often have their production assistants help look for such deals. The internet has made this process easier and http://www.MovieInsure.com has a very detailed overview of the variety of programs offered. Applications are downloadable, however most applicants call and speak with David prior to completing any forms.

“It’s something I do and it’s something I like to do,” says David. “The movie insurance is just something I was doing a lot of, due to my proximity to Hollywood… the young film producers coming out of film school all have something to prove, and I love hearing their story lines and feeling their enthusiasm as we do their quotes…. As the calls came in, I developed my markets and slowly began adding states to transact in..” says David.

There is competition in the market, but the prices we offer and the certificate services we provide are the best in the industry. The coverage offered ranges from general liability, coverage for rented production equipment, coverage for vehicles, workers compensation, errors & omissions and more. Although some producers do film without the proper coverage (commonly referred to as “gorilla style), most legitimate productions have to apply for permits and need certificates to show the city. In either case, if they are renting equipment, the rental house will need insurance on the gear.

According to David, “…yes I am the CEO, but it’s my favorite type of policy to sell and I really like the ‘crowd’ who have made me feel accepted.” “Working with film producers has made me feel inspired at times, wanting me to do films of my own” says David. To speak with David, he can be reached by calling (888)504-8484 xt 203, or by emailing him at David(at)MovieInsure(dot)com. He is friendly, and outgoing and can be quoted as saying “…it’s as close to being in Hollywood as I can get..”

Production insurance is unique to each project. Depending on the budget size, duration, amount of rented equipment, stunts, and so forth, the prices can range from $ 500 to $ 5000 on insurance for a short term policy. Many producers own their own gear, but may have to rent some vehicles. All of this can be accommodated. Annual policies are also available and are definitely a cost saving move.

Like a lot of industries, the film industry is small in terms of social networking and the fact that is always growing and emerging. Jokingly David adds, ”ha ha…sometimes I feel like they [the indie producers] get to have all the fun, while I am stuck in the office all day…” Nevertheless, there is rumor that some new technology coming to help David get out of the office more. Stay tuned for more developments on that front.

In the mean time, the folks at Brilliant Insurance Services are going to add more states to http://www.MovieInsure.com as the demand warrants. In addition to having a really nice website, and a wide variety of programs custom tailored on a short term or annual basis, one would definitely want to get a quote from David before making a final purchase.
