Moving fast (And moving slow)
move

In doing my homework on things to see while I was in Dublin I was particularly struck by the description in one book of "Famine", a sculpture group by Rowan Gillespie. The sculptures represent victims of the enormously tragic famine of the mid-1800′s, where a full quarter of the Irish population died or left the country in hopes of better elsewhere.

I walked out to the sculptures on the first of my two nights in Dublin (which was a long haul). It was indeed a incredibly powerful piece of art, perhaps more so in the dark. It was a bit weird, though, to have the holiday lights as the back drop for this harrowing set of figures.

The dome in the background is the Customs House. I really liked the moving traffic lights in the background. The nifty Gorillapod I got last year for Xmas was wonderful for this and many of the other night shots that I got while I was in Dublin.

A moving Pinhole Picture- Pinhole Video in HD!
move

Watch this video on Vimeo.

"Fairbank Days" at historic Fairbank, Arizona is the subject of my first try at making a pinhole video.

The video was made with a Canon 2ti DSLR, with a pinhole body cap taped on the front of the camera body. I set the video ISO to 6400. I think the shutter speed was set to 125.

It worked very well in bright sunlight. Shadows were very dark. However, the sensor recorded the moving images in real time! Imagine- pinhole work without a tripod!

I really like the chromatic aberrations! Rainbows make everything wondrous. (-:
