Bulk Film Loading – Free Canisters
film

Went by the local "1 Hour" lab this morning and picked up a bunch of the old canisters that normally go to the trash.

If your camera uses "DX" coding to set the film speed, sort the DX-coded film cans. Pick out the cans that match the speed of the film you’ll be loading.
So, if you have an old can that has DX codes (a black and silver pattern of squares) and it’s 24 frames of color film at 400 speed, it’s perfectly fine to load it with 36 frames of 400 speed Black and white. It’ll work.

If you have a camera that doesn’t use DX Codes (or you can manually override), any canister will be fine.

You may get a few that are for single-use cameras – these have pointy teeth on the end of the spool. Throw these away unless you want to try your hand at reloading a disposable camera…
