Barry Hambly has spent all but four of his 40
years living in a white world. His Native
features are the only reminders of an early
childhood spent on a First Nations reserve in
Saskatchewan before he was taken by childwelfare
workers. After recently being called an
‘apple’ – red on the outside, white inside, Barry
has packed his belongings to travel the ‘red
road’ in search of his Native soul.
