This documentary is about a miracle – the
survival of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic
church after decades of suppression during the
Soviet regime. It’s the story of Canadian-
Ukrainians who were determined that the faith
of their forefathers would flourish. The
documentary traces the troubled history of the
religion by examining the history of one small
church in the tiny town of Markoka.

An elegy for Kodak (and film in general)
Two strange things happened simultaneously today:
1) I read that Kodak had filed for chapter 11, and
2) my oldest son asked what this roll of film was.
When trying to explain to him how the film was used, and how the cameras worked, the film was processed etc., I realised he didn’t have the vocabulary to understand what I was saying.
So it dawned on me that the day Kodak died, was the day I realised my sons would probably never understand what this is and most likely never ever find this a relevant technology to use for anything.
