AtomFilms Names Vance Malone’s ÂÂOcularistÂÂ In Top Ten Short Films Of 2004
Portland, OR (PRWEB) December 22, 2004
Award-winning Internet site AtomFilms.com today named Vance MaloneÂÂs eight-minute documentary short ÂÂOcularistÂÂ #6 on its Top Ten list of 2004. Actively pursued by Atom FilmsÂÂ Director of Acquisitions, Megan OÂÂNeill, director Vance Malone finally agreed this year to license his 8-minute short ÂÂOcularistÂÂ to the prestigious film site. ÂÂIt was the best short film I saw at Sundance ,ÂÂ said OÂÂNeill. ÂÂThe images really stuck with me.ÂÂ
ÂÂOcularistÂÂ became a featured addition to the AtomFilms site in September 2004. (http://www.atomfilms.com)
Malone filled the dual roles of director and editor for the documentary filmed in Portland by Food Chain Films. Produced by Kevin Sullivan, ÂÂOcularistÂÂ highlights the work of Fredric Harwin, a local medical illustrator who creates beautifully lifelike, custom acrylic eyes. Disturbingly captivating, ÂÂOcularistÂÂ electrifies the senses of sight and sound, demonstrating its theme of altered eyesight with artful camera angles and creative editing. The original soundtrack from Portland composer Auditory Sculpture is weaved seamlessly into the story line, mixing vocal tracks with the music to drive the narrative and enhance the emotional response. ÂÂI wanted the viewer to experience, rather than casually observe, this film,ÂÂ said the director.
Other Ocularist highlights:
2003 Sundance Film Festival ÂÂ Honorable Mention ÂÂ Shorts Programme
2003 SXSW Film Festival ÂÂ Special Jury Award
2003 Florida Film Festival ÂÂ Grand Jury Prize
2003 Full Frame Film Festival ÂÂ Special Jury Prize
2003 Arizona International Film and Video ÂÂ Best Documentary Short
2003 International Documentary Association ÂÂ Nominee for Best Documentary Short
2003 One Reel Film Festival ÂÂ CuratorÂÂs Choice Nominee
