Miss Maie Ashe or Ash,actress, reclining, smoking a cigarette. Dover St Studios. Postcard, Rapid Photo London EC. c 1908
actress

Postcard mailed to Switzerland in 1908.
Miss Maie Ashe , a chorus girl who became a well known actress of the time and led a short and colourful life. Born in Clapton, East London, her address at the time of her death was given as 55 Kenninghall Road, Clapton, E.5.
Biographical details, as far as I can ascertain
Born Eleanor Mabel Eugenie Ash, 31 May 1888, daughter of James T.W. Ash who married Eleanor Mary Young in Bethnal Green in 1886 and subsequently died in 1921. She Married Stanley Francis Hicks in 1909 in Westminster, an actor, also known as Stanley Brett , brother of Seymour Hicks.
The Gielgud theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue was opened as the Hicks Theatre in 1906. She acted alongside her future husband, and his brother Seymour Hicks and his wife Ellaline Terriss.,
A very public divorce ensued in 1913, and she then married another actor and comedian, Fred Allandale, born Frederick Arnold, 1872 – 1921.

Maie Ashe died as Eleanor Mabel Eugenie Arnold at 24 Marine Parade in Brighon on 13 December 1923 aged 35.. Probate was granted to her mother, but the will was revoked in 1934 and administration granted to Margaret Mabel Ellaline Grace Mary (!) Hicks,(b.1910) who had married Wilfrid Malone in 1930. Perhaps this was Maie Ashe’s daughter? An Eleanor Mabel E T PRIDMORE was born in Lambeth in 1910.

Rapid Photo Printing Card no. 3545 See also cards 1831, 1234 & 1277.
Maie Ashe and Fred Allandale may be seen HERE although there is an error in the text which states that she died in 1921, rather than the correct year of 1923. Fred Arnold, who ran the Premier Pierrot Troupe, died near Birmingham not 10 days after his wife, but two years before it.
